Roger and Dawn Hubmer own and operate a small 5th generation family farm in south central Minnesota, where they raise corn, soybeans, Berkshire/Duroc Pork and free ranged Omega-3 chickens, all naturally. They implement a variety of sustainable farming practices to help preserve the farm for the next generation. They were named Pork All-Americans in 1996 and Farm Family of the Year for Blue Earth County in 1998. Dawn has her MS in Consumer Science from Minnesota State University-Mankato 1984. They believe that today’s consumer want to buy locally raised natural meats from coconscious farmers who want to preserve the family farm for the next generation.

Prairie Pride farm is a closed farm. This means that no animals are brought onto the farm that could have diseases. We raise all of our own pigs and the breeding stock too! Herd safety helps to insure food safety, and this is very important to us!

Our pork is free of any antibiotics or hormones or feed grade drugs. We know because, we grind our livestock feed from the grains we grow using sustainable farming practices. This provides our animals healthy, safe feed, plus preserves the land for the next generation. We care for our happy pigs everyday! It’s what we specialize in. We are not organic, because the corn we raise is not organically raised, just sustainably raised.
Our pork is raised outdoors in deep bedded shelters, as much as possible, year round. We select only the best from our herd, to become Prairie Pride Pork. What is different about our Omega 3 Chickens?
Omega-3 was thought to be found only is fish and flax fed chickens. But a recent University of MN study, done on our farm, shows that our chickens have 145 mg of Omega 3 per serving. A ratio of 8:1 of omega 6:3 is incredible. This provides a substantial amount of healthy fat for your diet.
Our Clover Pastured Chickens are raised the same way that Dawn's Grandma Holteen did, outdoors with lots of TLC! The alfalfa, wheat and oat blend of grasses on the pasture, create a smorgasbord of tasty grasses for the chickens to eat. We also have a mixture of ground corn feed for them to eat, if they so desire. This meaty breed of chicken has a large abundance of white meat, juicy dark meat and healthy yellow skin. Soon to be a hit at your family's Sunday dinner. No antibiotics or hormones are used. We are not organic because the corn we raise is not organically raised, just sustainably raised.
BBQ Catering started when a neighbor asked us to cater his daughters wedding. The rest is history! Our son Paul, has stepped in and handles the catering business. He is getting his restaurant management from South Central College-Mankato. We now bring to the farmers market pulled pork, BBQ ribs and their own Award Winning Blackberry Blaze with Chile Chipotle BBQ Sauce. (three heat levels)
